Pure Soul Psychotherapy

There are several different approaches to breathwork. I practise conscious connected breathwork. This is circular breathing with no pauses between the inhale and the exhale. You can breathe in and out through your mouth or your nose. We try to incorporate both into the same session.
These circular breaths stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system, which is the network of nerves that makes us feel calm and relaxed.
At the same time, our sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for our fight-or-flight instinct, becomes less active. This calms us, reducing those doses of adrenaline that cause stress and panic attacks.

What are the benefits of breathwork?
As we breathe, our bodies become recharged. We feel more energised, as well as at peace. Breathwork also brings us so many physical and emotional benefits that we may not have realised.
Conscious connected breathwork:

Reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression
-
Calms panic attacks and stress

Strengthens your diaphragm, enabling you to take in more oxygen
-
Supports healing for respiratory conditions
-
Acts as a natural pain reliever
-
Enhances your focus (excellent for exams and complex projects)

-
Gives you a deep and lasting sense of peace
Is breathwork safe to do?
Yes, breathwork is safe, and is extremely low-risk for most people. In fact, it’s often recommended by GPs and the NHS as a means to manage anxiety, stress, and depression.
However, like most techniques, breathwork has to be carried out properly to make sure it’s safe and effective. As a professional breathwork facilitator, I’ll teach you the correct techniques that will bring you the most benefits, in a safe and supportive space.
If you have any respiratory or circulatory conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take any medication, I’ll need to know so we can adapt your breathwork sessions. I offer a free 20-minute consultation to all my potential clients, and we’ll have a confidential chat about any health concerns at this stage.

How do breathwork sessions work?
Before we arrange your first session, I’ll arrange a 20-minute (free) consultation with you. This helps us to get to know each other: I’ll learn what you want to take away from breathwork, and you’ll find out more about conscious connected breathwork, our breathwork sessions, and me, Zuzana.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, and each one lasts an hour.
We start off with a chat about breathwork and practice our breathing, then the actual breathwork element lasts for 30-40 minutes. We breathe to carefully selected music, designed to encourage relaxed, circular breaths.
Afterwards, there’s “grounding time”, where you can relax after your breathwork session and if you want to, share your experience.
